Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and enjoyed playing tough athletic games. Her ability to perform was a perfect complement to her love of sport. She took home almost all Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance which her nation had to provide. By age 14 she had been accepted at the famed Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater as well as operatic singing. This course was to be changed, however, after Charles Laughton, after seeing the screen tests of Maureen was captivated by her beautiful, captivating eyes. Maureen FitzSimons' next movie (The Hunchback of Notre Dame - 1939) was to be filmed in the studio of RKO Pictures in America under the terms of a contract with Laughton. The epic film was an extraordinary success and the contract of Maureen was transferred by Laughton to RKO. Maureen Laughton had been involved in two motion picture productions before she reached 19.
